The Access Group Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held at Seabrooke Hall, Dagenham on 13th October 2005. It wasn't the best attended AGM we have organised, but was worthwhile. This year we chose to celebrate the work our volunteers did over the past year and to show how we will continue improving our service.
The general theme was upbeat and positive. "The last year has seen our management team busier than ever. The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) finally kicked in and forced a flurry of building works and consideration by service providers to start to allow access for disabled people." reported our Chairperson.
On show were displays of the sort of work we dealt with in the last year. They included some of the problems we faced and achievements we managed. People were given the opportunity to put forward their ideas or questions to the Access Group management committee and Simon Blewett (assistant access officer) from the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.
